TURKISH WEEKLY - JUNE 9, 2015

Some main stream Chinese Medias reported that Anti-China protests happened in Turkey recently, and trying to find out what is behind the protests, and concerned these activities would affect Turkish- china relations, is Turkey still a safe place to go for travel?  In İstanbul, the biggest city of Turkey happened anti-China protests, because of ‘Chinese ethnic minority issues’, the main reason was China’s ethnic minority policy and living condition were suffering distorted reports by a few Western Media for a long time. And "Ramadan ban" rumors about the Xinjiang Autonomous Region and a small group of agitators’ demagogic had led to the recent anti-China protests in Turkey. And during the protests, some Chinese tourists were targeted.  Besides, recent years, Turkish nationalism is on the rising tendency. In the parliamentary elections, Nationalist Action Party, which adopted a more radical nationalist idea, won about 16% of the people voted. The party's radical youth organization such as the “center ideal” organization is one of the main organizers of the demonstrations by citing the Turkish media reports.  Another reason is closely related to Turkey’s recent political situation. The elections in Turkey on June 7, ended the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP)’s one-party dominance since 2002. Before the formation of the new government, decision-making process was slowed down; difficult to adopt effective policies and measurements, and this is one of the reasons that protests are hard to get effective control.  The following contents were also among the reports as China has warned its citizens to be careful of anti-Beijing protests in Turkey, as well as when nationalists protest in front of Chinese Embassy of Ankara, Turkish police ensured the safety of the embassy, arranged police 24 hours duty in the vicinity.
