Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in Tehran, the capital of Iran,
on the last leg of his three-nation tour of the Middle East. Iran's
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was at the airport to welcome the
him.
Xi Jinping will meet his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, on
Saturday for discussions on aligning their national development
strategies and boosting cooperation on both political and economic
fronts. He is also scheduled to meet Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
This is the first state visit to Iran in 14 years by a Chinese head of state, as well as Xi's first trip to the country.
