The Chinese government has issued a policy paper which reviews and
summarizes the development of China-Arab relations. The paper -- the
first of its kind issued by the Chinese government -- consists of five
parts.
It reiterates the political will for a commitment to peace and
stability in the Middle East, in order to promote China-Arab relations
to a higher level. It offers a blueprint for the strengthening of
China-Arab cooperation, which should include high-level exchanges.
In investment and trade, the paper says that China is willing to
coordinate development strategies with Arab states. From a security
standpoint, it says that China is willing to enhance anti-terror
exchanges with Arab countries to establish a long-term security
cooperation mechanism.
