While in Saudi Arabia, President Xi Jinping held separate meetings
with Saudi Arabia's Deputy Crown Prince, chief of the Organization of
Islamic Cooperation, and chief of the Gulf Cooperation Council. High on
the agenda of all the talks was deepening cooperation in energy and
inter-connectivity, under the One Belt and One Road framework.
While meeting Saudi Arabia's Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman,
President Xi hailed the lifting of ties to a comprehensive strategic
partnership.
He said China is willing to expand the scale of the oil trade, and
promote bilateral cooperation in areas of clean energy, nuclear energy
and security.
Xi Jinping said Saudi Arabia stands at a key junction along the "Belt
and Road", and that the two countries should discuss aligning their
development strategies and actively participate in the interconnectivity
of the Middle East and the Gulf region.
