This year's SCO summit is set to start procedures for granting India
and Pakistan full membership. Xi Jinping said China is willing to
maintain close cooperation with Pakistan within the SCO framework.
He noted that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is an important
component of the Belt and Road Initiative, and that a batch of projects
has been officially launched since his visit to Pakistan in April. Xi
Jinping called on the two sides to work closely together to fully
implement the project.
Sharif said his country supports China's Belt and Road Initiative, as
well as the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the Silk Road
Fund. He said Pakistan will vigorously participate in the cooperation. While
meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Xi Jinping reviewed the
past progress in cooperation. He promised to enlarge all-level
exchanges and deepen understanding between the two sides.
