Morocco Committed to Consolidating China-Arab Cooperation Forum

Morocco World News - Thursday 12 May 2016

Rabat – Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mbarka Bouaida stressed, on Thursday, Morocco’s effective and responsible commitment to consolidating China-Arab Cooperation Forum.  The Moroccan Minister, who was speaking before the 7th session of China-Arab Cooperation Forum, recalled that this year’s event coincides with the official visit of King Mohammed VI to China to strengthen partnership between the two countries.  “The coincidence of these two events reflects Morocco’s openness to its international partners and its strong and responsible commitment to consolidating China-Arab Cooperation Forum, and its determination to play an active role through the development of tripartite cooperation and the strengthening of partnership between southern countries,” Bouaida added.  She noted that geographic distance does not discourage Morocco to work for strengthening relations with influential international partners both bilaterally or multilaterally.  Bouaida also recalled the efforts made to deepen the strategic cooperation between Arab countries and China through the setting up of appropriate legal framework in the forum and its functioning mechanisms, and developing policy plans of different cooperation aspects between the two parties.  She stressed that “the major challenge lies in the mobilization, perseverance and creativity in implementing the provisions of these documents through realistic, tangible and multidimensional partnerships.”  The Minister announced Morocco’s intention to set up and host the China-Arab center to fight desertification, in addition to one of the Sino-Arab centers to transfer technologies that are likely to develop China-Arab cooperation in sustainable development.  During this meeting, Bouaida hailed the position of the People’s Republic of China concerning the Palestinian cause and Al-Quds Al-Sharif, which is, she said, “the first cause of Arabs and Muslims as well as the key to solve the Middle East conflict.”  In this regard, she called for strengthening coordination and cooperation with China, a permanent member of the Security Council, to find solutions to Arab issues that are brought before the United Nations.
