China looks to raise strategic cooperation with Arab sates

China and Arab states are marking 60 years of diplomatic ties this year.  And in the two years since President Xi Jinping put forward the Belt and Road initiatives, the two sides have made some efforts under the framework. 
In 2014,China issued its first Arab Policy Paper. It maps out specifically how to develop the Belt and Road initiatives with the 22 states. It sets energy cooperation, infrastructure, and trade facilitation as three priorities.
China has set up strategic partnerships with 9 Arab states. 7 are founding members of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. China has signed contracts worth over 64 billion US dollars in construction projects.
China and the Gulf Cooperation Council have concluded free trade negotiations and agreed to reach an agreement by year's end. In terms of culture exchange, over the past two years, 14,000 Chinese students have studied in Arab states, and return flights have reached 183 a week.
